Divya Sitlani is the Client Relationship Manager at The Address. If you ever happen to visit The Address' Ahmedabad offices, do not miss to stop by and say Hi to her.

The Address is Gujarat’s largest coworking space with a strong and lively community of over 5000 clients. All these clients are various startups, freelancers, and MNC companies that work under one roof.

At The Address, we strongly believe in giving and taking care of everyone around us.

Creating a positive transformation by supporting communities is at the heart of our culture.

More than being a coworking space, we are heavily invested in helping people and encouraging social causes.

As Diwali is the biggest festival in India, we thought that this would be the perfect time to do something for the society and spread the light of happiness to the lesser privileged.

With this objective, we initiated the ‘Spirit of Giving’ drive to celebrate moments of happiness with children of the AASMAAN foundation.

The tagline of the drive – Be someone’s reason to smile – reflects the motto of this special drive for kids.

About the AASMAAN Foundation

The AASMAAN foundation is one of the largest NGOs in Ahmedabad.

It was founded in the year 2009 by a group of ten friends who wanted to do something for the less privileged children in society. Today, the AASMAAN foundation has over a hundred volunteers who are working hard to empower children coming from poverty-stricken families. They have even extended their operations in Bengaluru.

The foundation aims to create a culture of kindness in our society where all children get quality education and good health. They want to see every kid reach beyond the boundaries of financial challenges to discover a new world of happiness.

The volunteers at AASMAAN believe that even small helping gestures can bring transformative change. So, they encourage everyone to come forward and help the kids live a good life.

Donation Ideas for the Special Event

We have over 5000 clients who can contribute a variety of utilities. Hence, it was necessary to streamline the donation ideas. Kruti Acharya, the Happiness Manager and Divya Sitlani, the Client Relationship Manager at The Address, brainstormed and came up with four donation categories, namely –

  1. Clothes
  2. Stationery
  3. Toys
  4. Non-perishable food items

These are the most common items readily available in all households. So, it was a well-thought move by the talented ladies that reduced the hassles of our team while collecting the stuff.

Besides, these gifts are useful and fun, and we thought that the kids would love them.

And guess what? That’s exactly what happened. The kids from AASMAAN loved the gifts!

Activities Performed during the Drive

Our team generously donated clothes, books, toys, sketch pens, geometry boxes, pens, and tape among other utilities. This brought smiles to the little faces, making the drive a massive success.

Here’s a glimpse of major activities that we performed after collecting the gifts for the little angels.

1. Invited Kids to The Address Office

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, inviting the kids to the office without making proper arrangements was risky.

To ensure that the kids and everyone in the team stays safe, we disinfected and sanitized a separate room. We further equipped the space with essentials, such as sanitizers, safety masks, and protective hand gloves. During the event, we strictly monitored and ensured that everyone in the room followed physical distancing norms.

Our team left no stone unturned in creating a safe environment for the kids.

2. Distributed Goodies and Items

Our members and team were super excited to meet the lovely kids and the volunteers from the AASMAAN team. The good vibes they brought in the office set a fulfilling tone for the event.

To make the children comfortable and keep them entertained, we had planned various fun games.

After playing the games, we handed over the goodies to the children.

The heartfelt smile on their faces on receiving the gifts made us realize that even a small moment of kindness can make a big impact. We wanted to spend quality time with the children, with the intent of making their day. But eventually, it was the kids that made our day with their love, innocence, and positivity.

3. Spoke to the Volunteers

The day was filled with loads of laughter, joy, and excitement.

At the end of the day, we spoke to a few volunteers from the AASMAAN team. The conversations revolved around their experiences and perspective about life. They explained how, sometimes, we tend to ignore the blessings God has given to us. Little do most of us value the privileges we have got and our ability to help others.

The volunteers expressed immense gratitude to our team members who participated in this drive. Our efforts paid off and it was a proud moment for us.

Key Takeaways

Margaret Mead once said –

‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.’

We entirely agree with and plan to live by her views.

The Address team truly believes that success is not just the number game. The true success lies in building a stark and compassionate community.

The Address understands and is passionate about its social responsibilities. Hence, we launched this remarkable donation campaign for the kids of the AASMAAN NGO.

Besides making the kids happy, this initiative encouraged our team to come together as a close-knit community. We will continue this noble tradition by organizing such events in the future.
